[CI] Inspectors (Theory & Cat A & Cat B On-Road Assessments)

Employees require the NZTA Inspector qualification if their job requires them to do non-invasive inspection or roadside activities, and who does not need to hold other TTM warrants

Description

The Inspector Waka Kotahi NZTA warrant consist of 3 sections/tasks, for more information visit Warrants | Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency (nzta.govt.nz) :

  •  4-6 hour Theory workshop delivery by a TTM Trainer
  • Undertaking inspection activities on the lane of category A road environments, under an approved Inspection TMP
  • Undertaking inspection activities on the lane of category B road environments, under an approved Inspection TMP

About the training

This provides the base knowledge for completing inspection activities in category A and B road environments and on the shoulder of category C road environments.

Topics include:

  • about the Inspector role
  • about TTM and the requirements for inspections
  • reading the TMP and completing on-site records
  • risk identification and management
  • acting as spotter for an inspection activity
  • briefing of TTM personnel (eg spotters and observers)
  • emergency procedures
  • working around an inspection vehicle
  • safety (no go) zones

Who should complete the learning block?

Any person wishing to conduct inspection activities and who does not need to hold other TTM warrants.

This may include surveyors, provided their work fits within the range of inspection activities.

Staff who are regularly involved in the installation of TTM which may include inspecting or carrying out non-invasive work, are not eligible for the Inspector warrant and must hold the appropriate TTM warrant.

What to bring:

  • Bring reading spectacles if required.
  • Casual dress code (Workshop) + PPE Gear for Practical (Safety Boots, Vest, Long-Longs, Hard Hat (optional)
  • Water Bottle / Rainsuit (weather permitted) / Warm Jacket
  • Photo of each attendee will be taken at start of course for ID Card

  • Park on site at the office (Limited spots available) OR any on street parking (free). 
  • Take note of possible Event Signs (Fridays) 3pm limit
  • Penrose Train Station across the road from Office

There is no prerequisite for this learning block.

Warrant

There is a practising Inspector warrant (Inspector) for this learning block.

Note: Warrant is achieved when all 3 tasks are completed in full and signed off by Inspector Assessor (Cat A & B Practical's).

Refresher

The applicant will need to a attend a Refresher every 3 years

Price includes: 

  • Delivery of 4–6-hour theory workshop by an NZTA approved trainer and NZTA fee ($40.00 + GST)
  • Practical Assessment conducted on Cat A and Cat B-road at $104.50 + GST per assessment, additional to workshop fee
  • Lunch will be provided for full day workshops
